Lucky: It's war against Chiefs

Johannesburg - Orlando Pirates captain Lucky Lekgwathi has declared war on Kaizer Chiefs ahead of the MTN8 semi-final showdown on Sunday.

The Buccaneers are at a disadvantage going into the second leg of the Soweto derby at FNB Stadium, having drawn the reverse fixture 1-1 as hosts, gifting Amakhosi a vital away goal.

However, despite their arch-rivals heading into the clash in a more favourable position, 'Phinda Mzala' believes Pirates can secure a place in the final of the R8m tournament.

"It is war my friends! This is one hell of a game, which we must win at all cost," he told the club's official website.

"Yes, we have conceded an away goal, which automatically makes Chiefs the favorites heading into this game but I strongly believe the outcome of this clash is far from over.

"We are still in the race for a spot in the final and we cannot afford to miss out on yet another attempt at the MTN8 trophy.

"We have studied our opponents well and we are going to be ruthless from the start to finish.

"I would like to assure all of you that we are ready to die with our boots on this Sunday. The spirit in the camp is very high and we are all determined to win this game."

Lekgwathi admitted the Glamour Boys will be hard to break down, but is determined to ensure his team-mates win the encounter to please the club's trophy-starved supporters.

"I admit, it's not going to be easy for us because Chiefs are a good side but I strongly believe with the players we have got, we have a good opportunity to go through to the final," he added.

"On a personal level, I'm really looking forward to this encounter. But more importantly having played at this club for over seven seasons, I have a burning desire to win something this season for all the supporters who have been behind me and the team all these years."
