Lekgwathi: Bucs will march on

Johannesburg - Orlando Pirates captain Lucky Lekgwathi expects his side to bounce straight back from their Telkom Knockout defeat when they face Mamelodi Sundowns in the PSL on Wednesday.

The Buccaneers saw their Ziwa Mo title defence come to an end at the quarter-final stage as Bloemfontein Celtic produced a stunning comeback to force extra-time with a 3-3 draw, before edging the tie 5-3 on penalties.

The Soweto giants will now need to put that result behind them as they look to cut into Kaizer Chiefs' six-point lead at the Premiership summit, and Lekgwathi hopes his team-mates can return to winning ways against a struggling Brazilians outfit.

"There is no resting on our laurels, playing for Pirates is a pressure job and every team that plays us will double their efforts because they surely want to beat us," Lekgwathi told Backpage TXT.

"We are focusing on one match at time. It has taken the coach [Roger De Sa] quite some time to settle in, but we are already hitting the ground running and our form in the league has not been that bad."

On his own recent exclusions from the team, the skipper added: "When the coach came in I sat out the first two matches but then I got injured, but now I am back and I am confident I will play."
