Lekgwathi: Bucs are gelling

Johannesburg - Orlando Pirates captain Lucky Lekgwathi was naturally delighted to put another one over Kaizer Chiefs in the Carling Black Label Cup.

The Buccaneers won 4-3 on penalties after Oupa Manyisa, Happy Jele, Rooi Mahamutsa and Lekgwathi scored their spot-kicks and Chiefs goalkeeper Itumeleng Khune missed his, after a 0-0 draw.

"It's always great to win, especially twice against Chiefs in just over a week," the Bucs skipper told the Sowetan.

"The team is gelling with the old and new players adapting to the methods of coach Julio Leal. We are in the process of wrapping up our pre-season, there was no better way of doing that than beating Chiefs in a new tournament.

"Our supporters are used to celebrating trophies, the status quo will remain but we have to work hard as a it. It won't be easy because other clubs are reinforcing.

"We are not only planning to do well on the domestic front, we are also eyeing a second gold star by winning the African Champions League.

"We owe it to the fans and the chairperson, Dr Irvin Khoza."
