Lebese enjoying role at Chiefs

Johannesburg - Following their third win of the Absa Premiership season, Kaizer Chiefs winger George Lebese says he is enjoying his new combination with George Maluleka and the rejuvenated Mandla Masango.

As it happened: Kaizer Chiefs v Bloemfontein Celtic

The Phefeni Glamour Boys continued with their fine start to the new campaign when they defeated Bloemfontein Celtic 1-0 at FNB Stadium on Tuesday night.

Lebese was involved in the build-up to the goal scored by Masango in the second half.

The Mamelodi-born player revealed that the move was practiced hard on the training ground beforehand.

“I think it was not an impressive performance for us tonight,” said Lebese. “But I am happy with the three points we got. We are really combining well up front. Our goal came from a well worked move and Mandla (Masango) finished it very well.

“Every move we make on the pitch comes from the training grounds. We make a good combination with George (Maluleka) and Mandla (Masango). We just hope to continue playing like this.”

Victory for Amakhosi sent them to the top of the log standings after three games.

Their next game will be against Platinum Stars in the MTN8 semi-final second leg on Sunday.

Kick-off is at 15:00.

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
