It was a clean sweep for Serero who walked away with four major awards - the player of the season, player’s player of the season, young player of the season and the overall footballer of the year.
“Obviously, I am very disappointed. Sure, Serero is a talented player and did very well for himself this season. But, overall Jali was the better player and he was exceptional for us throughout the season,” Krol told OrlandoPiratesfc.com.
“According to my understanding, the Footballer of the Year is a player who has performed exceptionally well overall in a season and not just the league, and I think Jali did just that and he deserves it,” states the treble winning coach.
“Without taking anything away from Serero, who was influential for the Urban Warriors, I still think Jali stands out as the best performer of the season, having won the league, Nedbank Cup and MTN8 titles with the club this season.”
