Komphela's appointment praised

Cape Town - Former Orlando Pirates defender Edward Motale has praised Kaizer Chiefs for signing Steve Komphela.

‘Magents’ also believes that the national team will only improve with local coaches at the helm of the big clubs.

“Now you will see the best of Bafana Bafana, with local coaches at the best clubs,” he said to Sport24.

“I was over the moon to hear that Steve is going to Chiefs, even though I am no Chiefs fan.

“Big up to Motaung for going with him, because remember Pirates, Chiefs and Sundowns are the teams that have to lead by example.

“If the big clubs don’t go with local coaches do you think clubs like Ajax will? They won’t, they will just follow suit.”

Motale made it clear that he believes that South African clubs should no longer look for solutions from elsewhere but rather build a strong, professional football culture within the country.

“Local is lekker!” Magents insisted.

Motale now does work for an organisation called Sonke Gender Justice where he is a ‘Brother for Life Facilitator’ doing education work at prisons and schools for their gender-based violence programme.
