Komphela working on defence

Cape Town - Kaizer Chiefs coach Steve Komphela is eager to plug the defensive leaks that have seen the Glamour Boys concede four goals in three matches since the start of the season.

Amakhosi started the campaign with a 5-3 extra-time win over Maritzburg United in the MTN8 quarter-finals, before playing out a 1-1 draw in the last four against Bloemfontein Celtic and goalless stalemate at Chippa United in the Premiership.

And, against Free State Stars in the Absa Premiership on Saturday, August 22 Komphela is looking keep conceding goals down to a minimum.

"There are areas that we think we are okay. There is good progress in how we rotate the ball, retention, progression is okay, and you look at that as inspiration," Komphela told KickOff.

"There are also areas where we can improve. We are conceding goals that are totally uncharacteristic of this club. Offensively as well we do create chances but are not clinical, but I am optimistic that things will be okay."

Chiefs take on Ea Lla Koto at the FNB Stadium. Kick-off is at 20:15.
