According to KickOff, United’s chairman Farouk Kadodia reveals that having "bent over backwards" for Komphela he is confident that the former Bafana Bafana coach will remain with The Team of Choice.
“We understand that Steve, like every coach, has ambitions to coach at the top level,” Kadodia says.
“But we have bent over backwards to accommodate him in Maritzburg and we are confident we can keep him.”
Following the resignation of Vladimir Vermezovic, Pirates have been in search of a new coach to fill the void.
Komphela along with Benni McCarthy, Ruud Krol and Muhsin Etugral have been touted to fill the vacant job.
However, if Eric Tinkler proves his mental in the caretaker coach position and help the Buccaneers secure Champions League football, that provides a headache for Dr Irvin Khoza who will have to think hard on who to give the job to.
