Cape Town - Former Bafana Bafana caretaker boss Steve Komphela has left Absa Premiership club Maritzburg United to take over as coach of Chippa United, who are heading back to the top-flight next season.
The Chilli Boys’ head of communications and marketing, Luthando Zibeko, confirmed the appointment of Komphela, but refused to divulge more details on the move.
Komphela, 46, who played 24 matches for Bafana between 1992 and 1995, will take over from Vladislav Heric who was fired at the conclusion of the 2013/14 season.
Komphela's appointment is staggeringly Chippa’s NINTH in the last two seasons, according to the KickOff website.
Maritzburg United finished 10th in the recently concluded PSL season.
