Cape Town - Kaizer Chiefs coach, Steve Komphela, says that the team’s preseason camp has proved that he and his players are on the same wavelength.
Chiefs got knocked out of the King’s Super Cup in Swaziland on Saturday after losing on penalties having drawn 0-0.
Komphela spoke to the club’s website declaring his satisfaction on the camp that was held in Potchefstroom in the build up to the trip to Swaziland.
"It was a way of collecting info,” Komphela said.
"Opening my mind for the players to read. We shared many meals and there’s no better interaction than in sharing a meal.
"There's a lot that still has to be done. Everyday has its own dynamics.
"Our strategy was to get there and integrate the players as a team. And address the questions in terms of the aspects of football that we will apply in the season.
"I saw in the players the people who are interested. It is good to work with engaging players. I observed with interest their understanding as they posed relevant questions.
"We are facing in the same direction. The camaraderie in the team was strengthened at this camp," concluded Komphela.
Komphela’s first big test will be the upcoming Carling Black Label Cup on the 1st of August against Orlando Pirates.
Despite handing the coaching duties to a fan for the day, Chiefs supporters will be very interested to see how his team is coming along.
