Komphela backing Baloyi

Cape Town - Kaizer Chiefs coach Steve Komphela has backed Lucky Baloyi to challenge William Katsande for a defensive midfield role in the Amakhosi starting line-up.

Khomphela said Baloyi proved himself during a loan spell at relegated Moroka Swallows last season that he is an important player.

“Lucky is a good player and had a solid season at Swallows last season.

“He will surely be fighting for a place in the starting line-up which will be good for us as a team,” Komphela said.

“I think he has been underrated, but I expect him to add value to the team.”

The Chiefs coach said the fact that Baloyi was handed the captain’s armband at Swallows proves that he is an important player to any team.

“Lucky is among players nursing injuries, but he will improve our squad once he is back to full fitness,” said the Chiefs coach.
