Cape Town - Maritzburg United coach Steve Komphela has admitted that his squad are struggling to train properly following the news of Bafana Bafana and Orlando Pirates captain Senzo Meyiwa's death.
Komphela, whose side is currently third on the ABSA Premiership log and preparing to face the University of Pretoria on Friday night, has admitted their is a lack of focus from the players in training.
“Senzo comes from KZN. Most of us have worked with Senzo closely, some are friends with him and it is very difficult. You could feel the energy and everybody was down,” Komphela tells KickOff.com website.
“One good thing is that the funeral will be a day after we have played. We are just going to move on with the wave of confidence into Friday and go on Saturday and bury Senzo. On behalf of the players, the club, top management and all of the supporters we send our deepest condolences.”
“The only thing that we have to manage is the mental aspect."
