Cape Town - Maritzburg United coach Steve Komphela admitted his side's 2-1 away victory over Platinum Stars in the Premiership on Sunday was no mean feat.

Dikwena thought they had snatched a point from the encounter when Ndumiso Mabena leveled the scores at 1-1 in the 87th minute.

However, Mahau Mokate had other ideas and seized on a mistake from Punch Masenamla to steal the game for The Team of Choice with his 91st minute winner at the Royal Bafokeng Stadium in Rustenburg.

It is the continuation of Maritzburg's revival in the league after they shocked everyone by beating league leaders Kaizer Chiefs 1-0 in midweek.

"I wish things could be as easy as it is said," Komphela said.

"It is a nice win away from home. We went a long time without winning, it was scary.

"This was not an easy one in a sense."

Kurt Lentjies, who set up Kokate's winner, said the win was a result of a concerted team effort by the squad.

"All of us had a great game, it was a team performance today," he said.

"We went like nine games without winning, now we win two in a row.

"Through a difficult time we stuck together, and the coach has been fantastic."

The win moved The Team of Choice into the top eight in the Premiership standings, above SuperSport United on goal difference.
