Klate pens new Bucs deal

Johannesburg - Orlando Pirates midfielder Daine Klate has reportedly signed a new two-year contract, keeping him at the Soweto club until the end of the 2014/15 season.

According to the Football411 website, the Bafana Bafana winger's current deal was set to expire in May, but the Buccaneers have been quick to tie the playmaker down to a new long-term contract.

The news will come as a big boost to Pirates, with Klate having become only the second PSL player ever to have won five league titles in South Africa.

He joined record-maker Andre Arendse in that feat last term, although the Pirates man won all of his titles in a row, earning three successive PSL crowns with SuperSport United before making the move to Bucs, who won back-to-back league trophies last term.

Klate and Company do, however, face a tough ask in successfully defending their title this term, with Kaizer Chiefs currently seven points clear at the top of the standings, although Pirates can cut that lead down to four when they face Free State Stars on Wednesday.
