Klate: Learn from the past

Cape Town – Former Orlando Pirates midfielder Daine Klate believes the club has what it takes to beat Al-Ahly in Egypt.

According to KickOff, Klate deems that with Zamalek dominating the Egyptian soccer scene it is the perfect opportunity for Pirates hand Al Ahly a defeat.

“Al-Ahly have changed a bit since Pirates played them two years ago with some players retiring and at the moment Zamalek is dominating the [Egyptian League so this is a perfect opportunity for Pirates,” says Klate.

“They are going there with a 1-0 lead and they kept a clean sheet at home, so it is an advantage for Pirates.

"The only thing is Al-Ahly are tactically very disciplined and if Pirates can match them in terms of tactical discipline, I think they stand a very, very good chance [of winning].

“But they must not be naïve and they must stick to the game plan; keep the shape and learn from the past,” he says.

Pirates take on Al Ahly in a CAF Confederation Cup encounter on Sunday, October 4.

Kick-off is at 20:30.
