Cape Town - Kaizer Chiefs coach Stuart Baxter reveals that Itumeleng Khune will have to battle Brilliant Khuzwayo for the goalkeeping spot.
Read: Year-end return for Khune
Khune has been sideline since the end of August with an ankle injury which Khuzwayo grabbed the opportunity with both hands.
The 24-year-old helped Amakhosi survive a second half onslaught by Orlando Pirates in the MTN8 final with a superb display and has ever since continue to prove that he has what it takes to replace Khune.
According to Goal.com, Baxter states that Khune won’t slide right back into the Amakhosi side as he faces tough competition from Khuzwayo.
"It is going to be a while for him to get his fitness back and then it will be a battle for him to see if he can get back in the team,” Baxter said.
“He's going to have to dislodge the two guys who are there now."
Sport24 reported that Khune will likely return before the year ends and Baxter admits there is no need to rush the Bafana Bafana keeper’s recovery.
"The other keepers are doing so well it means that Khune doesn't have to rush it back from injury.”
