Johannesburg - Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper Itumeleng Khune has heaped praise on the club's new signings upon his return to pre-season training.
The Premier Soccer League club have snapped up Bidvest Wits captain Tefu Mashamaite, Moroka Swallows left-back Keegan Ritchie and Brent Lawler, who had been training with AmaTuks following his return from the United States.
The Bafana stopper, who has already begun dreaming of silverware, says the new signings have what it takes to make an impact at Chiefs.
'Spiderkid' told the club's official website: "We trained with Brent towards the end of last season and we got to know him and I am glad to see that he has signed with us. He is a nice person and a hard worker on the field.
"With regards to Tefu and Keegan I have spent a lot of time with them in Bafana Bafana camps and also played against them many times, I know just how good they are and in addition they have the Bafana experience and have played at the highest level.
"We welcome them and try to make them feel at home and at ease...so that they can give their best on the field of play which is all that really matters, when you add players of the quality of these guys to your team its good because it makes you stronger as a unit."
With Orlando Pirates claiming the treble last season, Khune knows just how important it will be for his side to pick up a trophy next season and is glad to be back in training.
"It might still be June and the season begins in August but I am already thinking about May next year," he said.
"I spent time in the off season plotting my goals and objectives and I have laid them out and hopefully at the end of the coming season they would have been reached."
Chiefs held their first training session ahead of the new campaign in Naturena on Monday, with assistant coaches Donald 'Ace' Khuse and Arthur Zwane taking the session in the absence of coach Vladimir Vermezovic, who returns on Tuesday.
