Khune named Chiefs captain

Johannesburg - Kaizer Chiefs announced on Tuesday the appointment of Itumeleng Khune as the new captain after the club relieved Jimmy Tau of his captaincy.

According to the club, the appointment follows deliberations within the club and coach’s decision as a result of the media speculation surrounding Tau’s tenure as captain.

Chiefs also reiterated their earlier stance that Tau did not send an email to the club resigning as a captain and that there was no “bust up” between the coach Vladimir Vermezovic and Tau as reported in the media.

Khune will be supported by a committee of the following players; Tinashe Nengomasha, Kaizer Motaung jnr, George Lebese and Lawrence Molekwane.
