Cape Town - Brilliant Khuzwayo has attempted to distance himself from comparisons between himself and Kaizer Chiefs number one, Itumeleng Khune.
As it happened: Kaizer Chiefs v Orlando Pirates
According to KickOff.com, the stand-in shot stopper said that he has to work harder to grind out more results despite a scintillating performance from the goalkeeper as Chiefs defeated Pirates 1-0 to take home the MTN8 cup.
“I had to do my best as an individual, not as in comparing myself to him, or the opposite way around. I must do my work and try to be more focused on getting good results for the team,” said Khuzwayo.
The 24-year-old made a string of fine saves which kept Orlando Pirates out of the encounter while on-lookers were beginning to see Khuzwayo could be compared to Khune.
“Coming into the match, I was prepared to fight as an underdog having to replace Itu (Khune).”
Khuzwayo went above and beyond just replacing Khune as he was awarded the man of the match for his performance. The player still chose to remain in the background and gave credit to Khune for showing him the way.
“Obviously he’s the best in South Africa and I look up to him - he is my role model,” said Khuzwayo.
