Cape Town - SuperSport United defender, Sibusiso Khumalo, has resumed training following a successful surgery on his knee.

According to Soccer Laduma, Khumalo was supposed to be included in the Bafana Bafana AFCON squad but had to go under the knife as a meniscus injury kept the player out.

Reports suggest that the player is well on course to make his return to the PSL fold after the AFCON tournament as he will have served his six weeks on the sideline.

Since joining Matstatsantsa the left-back has solidified his spot in the starting XI and there is no doubt that Gordon Igesund will be a happy coach to have the 25-year-old back in the squad.

SuperSport take on Free State Stars on Wednesday, February 11 at the Lucas Moripe Stadium.

Kick-off is at 19:30.
