Johannesburg - Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Willard Katsande reveals that coach Stuart Baxter always reminds him that he is the "engine" of the team.
As it happened: Kaizer Chiefs v Orlando Pirates
According to KickOff, Katsande put in yet another outstanding performance after ensuring that the likes of Reneilwe Letsholonyane and George Maluleka get clean ball to initiate all forms of attack.
“Coach [Stuart Baxter] always told me that I'm the engine of the team,” said the Zimbabwean.
“I have to win every ball, I have to break down the opposition attacks so that we can attack.”
Katsande was at the pulse of every turnover and played a pivotal role in covering Chiefs back four which helped his side secure a 1-0 victory over their fierce rivals Orlando Pirates, courtesy of a Tefu Mashamaite header.
The 28-year-old added that he also balances the team out and adds to their attack just as much as he adds to Chiefs' defence.
Chiefs shift their focus to their league campaign as they take on Maritzburg United in the Absa Premiership on Saturday, September 27 at the FNB Stadium.
Kick-off is scheduled for 20:15.
