Karuru's Chiefs days numbered?

Cape Town - Zimbabwean midfielder Ovidy Karuru appears to be surplus to requirements at Kaizer Chiefs and could be headed for the exit door.

Karuru played for Chiefs in a pre-season friendly game against Chippa United, but has not had any competitive action since joining the 2012/13 league champions.

And with AmaKhosi flying high and unbeaten this season, it appears unlikely that coach Stuart Baxter will call upon Karuru’s services, which could lead to his departure.

"It's difficult for Ovidy to get game time, because the team is doing well, don't be surprised to see him moving elsewhere whether in January or at the end of the season," a source from within the Chiefs camp reportedly told the Goal website.

"However, if he remains beyond January, then he will have to impress when given a chance, probably in the (Caf) Champions League," added the anonymous source.

The 25-year-old Karuru has previously had stints in Belgium as well as in the lower leagues in France, having also played for Masvingo United and Gunners in his homeland.
