Rustenburg - A late Robert Ng'ambi goal snatched a deserved 2-1 win for Platinum Stars over Ajax Cape Town in Rustenburg on Saturday night.

Ng'ambi gave Dikwena the lead in the 12th minute before Erwin Isaacs levelled matters 15 minutes later.

The Urban Warriors began the game brightly and Platinum Stars 'keeper Kabelo Dambe needed to produce a smart save to deny a Tashreeq Morris in the eighth minute.

Dambe was again called in to action two minutes later to keep out a dangerous Cecil Lolo shot and keep Dikwena in the game.

The Rustenburg outfit hit back immediately and grabbed the lead when Robert Ng'ambi pounced on a mistake by 18-year-old defender Rivaldo Coetzee in the 12th minute.

Ajax fought hard for an equaliser and were rewarded in the 27th minute after some good work from young Riyaad Norodien created a chance for Erwin Isaacs who finished superbly.

Platinum Stars began to take control of the game in the second half as they pushed for a winner.

Ajax's Finnish goalkeeper Anssi Jaakkola produced a string of saves to keep the Cape side in the game.

However, Ng'ambi broke the Urban Warriors' hearts in the 87th minute with a smart header to snatch the win for Dikwena.

The win could prove vital for Platinum Stars' bid to stave off relegation as they move up to 11th in the table and five points clear of the drop zone.

Cavin Johnson will be delighted with grabbing a win in the first game of his second stint in charge of the club.
