Johnson: Zulu adds value

Cape Town - Cavin Johnson says that Siyabonga Zulu adds value to the team and takes pride in the choice that Platinum Stars made by the team to recruit the defender.

The former Orlando Pirates youth player, who previously played for Chippa United on loan, recently moved to Dikwena for the 2015/2016 PSL season.

“Siyabonga is a really good player, brilliant left back. Coming into our team now he adds value to our team,” said the Dikwena coach to Sport24.

The defender, who has been capped at South African Under-23 level, has impressed his new coach with his defensive skills.

“We needed a young constructive left back, if you remember last season we saw Luvo Mpeta, Punch Masemela but it did not solve our problems, and it was also a loan which didn’t really help much.

“So this time we have Siyabonga Zulu who was there before. Lucky for us we have him now and he has been showing a lot of attacking skills.

“He really uses the left foot the way it’s needed to be used and really scores goals well. We are very happy to see that.” added Johnson.

Johnson said he looks forward to what the team will do this season and having Zulu on-board has made the team stronger.

No! I think the smart thing to do is start again with a younger skipper ...

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
