Orlando Pirates midfielder Andile Jali could miss the team’s midweek Absa Premiership outing against Ajax Cape Town after he sustained an injury in Saturday’s CAF Champions League fixture against Zanaco FC.
Jali twisted his ankle in the first half at the FNB Stadium and was forced off the field, and subsequently replaced by Lehlohonolo Masalesa. Despite the set back for Bucs, they went on to win the game 2-1, and 3-1 on aggregate, to advance to the next round.
Coach Roger de Sa told Soccer-Laduma that they will be monitoring Jali’s progression to assess the extent of the damage.
“He twisted his ankle and he asked to be substituted. From this game it is only Andile that we may not have for the next game. We are just working hard with the so called fringe players who did very well against Zanaco going into the Ajax game.
“We have seen how they can play and will come to the party on Wednesday,” De Sa said. Jali is expected to undergo a scan today (Monday), to assess the injury he sustained on the weekend.
