Cape Town - Andile Jali is expected back in training when Orlando Pirates return from their Christmas and New Year break, officials said on Saturday.
According to the supersport.com website, the Bafana Bafana midfielder has a groin injury and was taken off for the last 20 minutes of Pirates’ last league game of the season, a 3-1 home win over Golden Arrows.
Pirates’ medical team said Jali had to be pulled off “because he experienced a sharp pain on his groin”.
But they have advised that rest over the holiday period will help him to recover.
Midfielder Aubrey Ngoma is also nursing an injury during the festive period, after injuring his shoulder at training.
“The pair is however expected to resume training with the rest of the squad,” said the club.
Pirates are due to return from their holiday on January 6 and resume their PSL programme with a match against SuperSport United at the Orlando Stadium on January 18.
Pirates are currently 11th in the PSL standings.
