Chippa target Celtic scalp

Cape Town - Bloemfontein Celtic will host an in-form Chippa United for an Absa Premiership clash at Free State Stadium.

Celtic played to a fourth draw in the league this season when they held Maritzburg United 0-0 away from home.

The Bloemfontein club has claimed five points from four home matches this season.

Their next three league opponents are Ajax Cape Town, Free State Stars (both away) and Bidvest Wits (home).

Phunya Sele Sele are placed 10th on the Absa Premiership log with 13 points from 10 matches.

Chippa extended their unbeaten run to six matches with a 2-1 home win over Bidvest Wits last time out.

The Eastern Cape side has claimed six points from four away matches this season.

Their next three league opponents are Free State Stars, Black Aces (both home) and Polokwane City (away).

The Chilli Boys are placed second on the Absa Premiership log with 17 points from 10 matches.

In head-to-head stats, Celtic and Chippa have met in just two previous top flight matches.

Both of those encounters took place in the 2012/13 season, with the Chilli Boys winning 2-1 at home before the return match saw Phunya Sele Sele claim a 1-0 victory.

Kick-off is at 15:30 on Sunday, November 23.
