FSS will be tough to beat - Igesund

Johannesburg - SuperSport United coach Gordon Igesund is wary of the threat Free State Stars pose ahead of their Telkom Knockout clash.

Preview: SuperSport v Free State

Speaking to Matsatsantsa’s official website, the former Bafana Bafana mentor believes that the international breaks due to the CAF and FIFA calendar helps him a lot as he is able to focus on his team.

“When I joined SuperSport, I had a 10-day break and it suited me.  It gives me extra time to work on other departments,” said Igesund.

Meanwhile visitors Stars are going into this match following their 3-2 victory against Moroka Swallows at Goble Park Stadium.

“I don’t read too much into other teams. I want to talk about my team.”

“What I know about Free State Stars is that they have character; they possess fighting spirit and are difficult to beat. However, every coach plays differently,” concluded Igesund.

The game is scheduled for a 15:00 kick-off on Saturday, October 4 at the Lucas Moripe Stadium.

No! I think the smart thing to do is start again with a younger skipper ...

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
