Igesund denies PSL return

Cape Town - As Gordon Igesund nears the end of his term as Bafana Bafana coach, it is reported that PSL teams are desperate to secure the 58-year-old's services.

According to KickOff, Igesund has been linked with the SuperSport United and Moroka Swallows jobs.

Cavin Johnson and Zeca Marques are under pressure following disappointing seasons with United failing to finish in the top four while the Dube Birds just avoided being relegated.

But Igesund confirmed that at this stage it's just rumours as he seeks to honour his contract with SAFA until the end of the month.

“I don't know anything (about returning to coach a PSL team), it's just a rumour,” Igesund stated.

“I have a contract with SAFA until the end of the month. I want to honour my contract and also help (Shakes) Mashaba with information on what I have done in the past two years.”

Meanwhile, Swallows take on Orlando Pirates and SuperSport are up against Bidvest Wits on Saturday, August 9 at 20:15 as the PSL kicks off.

No! I think the smart thing to do is start again with a younger skipper ...

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
