Cape Town - SuperSport United coach Gordon Igesund believes his side deserved to win against Kaizer Chiefs.

As it happened: SSU v Chiefs

According to KickOff, Igesund and his Pretoria side handed Chiefs their first defeat after 19 PSL games and the former Bafana Bafana coach has praised his players for grinding out the perfect result.

"They [Chiefs] got a lot of decisions at one stage, free-kick after free-kick after free-kick, but we dealt with that [defending set-plays] and we rectified those situations and they were great tonight,” said Baxter.

New signing Jeremy Brockie opened the scoring on the 49th minute while Dove Wome put the nail in the coffin on the 90th minute.

Igesund was happy to see that his strikers hitting the back of the net and claims United were deserved winners despite Chiefs superior ball possession.

"I'm happy for the strikers, they're scoring goals and the guys are working hard and enjoying themselves.

"Thanks to Stuart Baxter and his team, they've had a fantastic run up until now. Tonight was a tough game for us but on the day I think the better team won and we deserved it."
