Cape Town - SuperSport United coach Gordon Igesund admits that he is very pleased with the signings he has made in the transfer window.
Speaking to Sport24, Igesund said that the team is looking forward to a very successful season now that they have identified the key players they needed to fill the gaps.
“We have obviously identified the four players we wanted and we got them. We are not the only team that have signed players, majority of these teams have signed,” he said.
“We are looking forward to a very good season that we have filled up the gaps we wanted to close within the team.
“We are looking forward to be the team that challenges the rest of these other teams especially the big teams.
“In my opinion I am very pleased with my team and the players that I have especially now that we have Dean Furman."
Furman penned a two-deal with the Pretoria club while Igesund have also secured the services of New Zealand international duo Michael Boxall and Jeremy Brockie.
Igesund believes the club have the right kind of weaponry to vie for any silverware opportunities which will arise in 2015/16 season.
“We’ve got our ambitions and I believe we can be something this season.
“Basically it’s not easy for a team to get the players that they want you know from first choice.
“We have been very fortunate with the likes of Bongani Khumalo who obviously has history with the team and he knows exactly what the team’s philosophy is and will definitely be of great help at the back there and two overseas-based players; one from Australia and one from New Zealand [Brockie and Boxall].
“These are some great players and I have seen them play and knew I had to get them on to the team. We are really happy our team choices."
United take on Mpumalanga Black Aces on Saturday, August 22.
Kick-off is at 18:00.
