Igesund: Pirates were lucky

2011-11-03 08:22

Johannesburg - Moroka Swallows coach Gordon Igesund felt Orlando Pirates were lucky to snipe a share of the spoils in their Soweto derby on Wednesday night.

In a lively encounter at Orlando Stadium, Bucs defender Happy Jele equalised in extra time, cancelling out a spectacular first-half opener from David Mathebula.

Igesund was naturally gutted by Jele's late sucker punch.

"It's disappointing, I thought we played well tonight - we deserved more than we got out the game," he said.

"Credit to Pirates as they fought back. I think they were lucky but that's football."

The fierce rivals will resume hostilities in a Telkom Knockout quarter-final showdown at Dobsonville Stadium on Saturday.

Igesund warned his men there are no second chances in cup football.

"There are no second chances in the cup. I know it will be a tough game. We will regroup now, see if there are any injuries and go from there," he concluded.
