Cape Town - Ajax Cape Town defender Abbubaker Mobara reveals that frustration almost made him left the Ikamva club.
In the September issue of KickOff magazine, the 20-year-old admits to growing frustrated under former coach Muhsin Ertugral and thought about leaving the club.
“When I didn’t play I felt that I should ask Muhsin if I was in his plans for the season and initially he said ‘no’”, said the Mitchells Plain-born player.
At the time, Bidvest Wits were interested in luring the defender to Johannesburg with the right-back having then considered packing up his things.
“I was very young and eager to play but I kept on pushing at training and after a few days he started to like me.”
“When I started, my mind wasn’t set to just play one season then leave the club, but I want to gain experience and when I feel that I’m ready to move then I’ll move.”
Mobara's patience has paid off with Roger de Sa showing faith in him after Ertugral parted ways with the club.
Ajax are unbeaten in the Absa Premiership this season and are making waves with their young squad.
The Urban Warriors are in second place, four points adrift from the high-flying Kaizer Chiefs in the race for the PSL crown.
Roger de Sa's team next face the trip to Nelspruit to take on Mpumalanga Black Aces on Saturday, September 27 at 20:15.
