After their goalless draw against Mamelodi Sundowns at the weekend, Wits were looking to score an easy three points against a weakened Rise and Shine but Kosta Papic charges was not going to have that.
Goals from Puleng Tlolane and Boban Bogere at Bidvest Stadium ensured City go home with all three points.
According to KickOff, admits that they handed the game to City after missing out on several opportunities to score.
"We should have won the game, but credit to them they made use of the two chances they got,” laments Hunt.
“Honestly though, we should have been at least four nil up by the time they scored but we did not use our chances.
"However we need to rectify our mistakes and move on. I cannot tell whether this will affect our preparations for the cup game as you may never know in South African football these days."
Wits will now prepare for their Telkom Knockout tie against SuperSport United on Saturday, October 25.
Kick-off is at 15:00.
