Hunt impressed with signings

Cape Town - Bidvest Wits head coach Gavin Hunt is pleased with how quickly new signings Elias Pelembe and Daine Klate are blending into the squad.

Hunt has been particularly impressed with Pelembe during pre-season training and believes the Mozambique international can play a key role for the Clever Boys next season as the team's playmaker.

The midfielder joined Wits on a one-year deal earlier this month after being released by Mamelodi Sundowns where he failed to make an impact last term.

Hunt worked with Klate when they were both at SuperSport United before the player left for Orlando Pirates in 2010.

"I know what they can do... what they have done for me before. I thought they got a lot in them," Hunt at the MTN8 launch.

"For me Pelembe has been the pre-season's best player, he has been fantastic.

"Hopefully he can strike it. He is hungry to play, he's still got the legs, same as Daine.

"They won a lot of trophies, they know how to win games and they know how I like to work and those types of situations are very important."

Lerato Chabangu is also training with the Wits squad, but Hunt revealed they have not yet decided on whether they will be offering him a contract.

"We still haven't made a decision there so we will wait and see. Obviously there is lot in terms of work permits with the other players, so we will see," concluded Hunt.

No! I think the smart thing to do is start again with a younger skipper ...

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
