Hunt furious with the ref

Johannesburg - Gavin Hunt slammed referee Jacob Frolick after SuperSport United 's 2-1 defeat to city rivals Mamelodi Sundowns at the Lucas Moripe stadium on Saturday night.

The reigning PSL champions had led through a 35th-minute strike by Dipsy Selolwane, but the Brazilians clawed their way back to steal all the spoils in the final minutes of the Tshwane derby.

However, Hunt believes that Frolick should have ruled out Mabhuti Khenyeza's equaliser in the 85th minute as he felt it was offside.

"Their first goal was offside you can see it on a TV. It is offside, but well that's our football and what else can we do," said the three-time league winning coach.

"Anyway we can't complain about that we had enough chances to win the game and we have ourselves to blame, there is no way they should have won the game because we had more chances to win. What can I do? We should have won this game."

Hunt further bemoaned the chances missed by his charges throughout the encounter. "Fikru (Tefera) had a chance in the first minute of the game and he did cut in but didn't score," he added.

"We should have been 3-0 up in the first half , but then we only scored once out of all the chances we got. Even in the second half we should have scored. We had three or four chances but we didn't score."

The 46-year-old mentor insisted his men could not be accused of throwing away points due to the "offside goal" which was awarded to Downs.

"With their first goal being offside how could we have thrown away the game? It is one of those things," Hunt said.

"But we have to blame ourselves as well. We have to take our chances and kill the game off when we have an opportunity to do that but we didn't do it."
