How Kaloum came to meet Pirates

Cape Town - Orlando Pirates take on A.S Kaloum in the CAF Confederations Cup. Here is a round up of how they came about to play the Buccaneers.

So who are Kaloum and what can the Buccaneers expect from their Guinean counterparts?

According to the clubs official website, Kaloum is a club based in Conakry, Guinea. The club was established in 1958 and it currently competes in the Guinée Championnat National (equivalent to the Absa Premiership).

They are the current defending champions of the league however, due to their involvement in the CAF Champions League playoffs this year, A.S.K (nickname) have found it difficult in their domestic league.

A.S.K are currently in eight position (twelve-team league), eight points behind current leaders Horoya FC albeit with two games still to play.

Pirates take on Kaloum at 17:00 (SA time) on May 15.

Road to CAF Confederation Playoff

Kaloum have qualified for this stage of the competition after losing against Algerian outfit USM Alger in the third round of the CAF Champions League.

USM Alger qualified for the group stages of the Champions League after defeating Kaloum Star 2-1 on aggregate.
