The defender also believes that they have a chance of retaining the Nedban Cup.

“Look we have a realistic chance of defending and retaining the Nedbank Cup,” said Gumede on the clubs official website.

“With regards to the League we are only focused on our matches, we know we have to keep winning and collecting those three points, whatever happens with the other teams happens but our only objective is to collect as many points as possible in order to put us in a position to play in the CAF Champions League next season.”

Gumede is hoping to be among the cast of players who gets to help the Sea Robbers achieve that all important second star as he reveals his main goal.

“My personal goal, more than anything else is to be part of the generation of players that help Pirates recapture the Champions League but first we have to start with securing the League points and then only we can start on making that dream a reality.”
