Along with Gumede his Buccaneers teammates Menzi Masuku and Sibusiso Mahlangu have also been included into the South African under-23 squad.

The South African u-23 men’s National Team will be heading to Palestine tomorrow for an international friendly ahead of their first qualification match for the All Africa Games against Sudan in Khartoum.

“It’s always an honour to be selected to play for your country so I’m very happy,” said Gumede on the clubs official website.

“I think it’s important for young players to have international experience because by the time we are eligible for the senior team (Bafana Bafana), we will know a bit more about what to expect at that level.

“It’s important to be part of the setup, even if you are just in camp because you learn a lot by just being there.”

The team is currently in camp and will begin their trans-continental trip from on Tuesday March 10, take on the Palestinians in Hebron on Saturday March 14, before heading back south to Khartoum for the first leg qualifier, scheduled for 20 – 22 March 2015.

The return match is scheduled for 10 – 12 April 2015.
