Cape Town – Kaizer Chiefs defender, Morgan Gould, will return to training as he slowly makes his way back to full strength from injuring his Achilles tendon.
According to the club’s website, Gould tore his Achilles tendon against Raja Casablanca last season in a CAF Champions League encounter.
“The training will consist of limited game situations. He should be totally ready after the Fifa break,” said Chiefs’ medical report.
The Fifa break is from 31 August to 8 September.
Chiefs also gave an update on Daniel Cardoso and Bongani Ndulula. Cardoso went for x-rays as the defender is recovering from a stress fracture in the shin bone.
According to Chiefs’ medical report Cardoso’s bone is showing “great improvement.”
“He will have another x-ray in three weeks time after which a final decision will be made,” the report concluded.
Cardoso and Gould have not yet featured for Amakhosi this season due to their respective injuries.
Meanwhile, Bongani Ndulula returned to training last week.
The return to full fitness of Gould should drive Chiefs to excellence when the league programme gains momentum.
Chiefs will host Free State Stars at the FNB Stadium on Saturday, 22 August.
It will be Chiefs’ first home game of the 2015/16 Absa Premiership Season.
Kick-off is at 17:00.
