Gould grateful to be playing

Johannesburg - Morgan Gould is delighted to be back for Kaizer Chiefs after an injury lay-off, with Stuart Baxter as pleased with his "new signing".

According to the Football411 website, Gould was forced to sit out the business end of the 2012/13 campaign for Chiefs, and he played no on-field role in their PSL and Nedbank Cup triumphs.

However, the Bafana Bafana centre-back was able to complete more than 45 minutes of action on Sunday in Amakhosi's defence of their Gauteng Cup title.

"I didn't have an off-season because of the rehab programme from the injury I sustained on the 6th of April 2013. I spent most of the time at the gym strengthening muscles but also made time to rest in the process," he told Chiefs' official website.

"So far I have played in the practice matches against Mbabane Swallows of Swaziland and BidVest Wits where I began to open my mind and get back to match awareness.

"I felt comfortable in both matches. On the weekend we played in the Gauteng Football Cup, this is when it felt nice to be part and parcel of the match situation with the support from the crowd.

"Personally I am happy to get back to action and to remain humble with every opportunity I get to make a contribution."

Meanwhile, Baxter reckons Gould's return for the Glamour Boys is a welcome boost, the coach saying: "It is good to have Morgan (Gould) back.

"A fit Morgan is more like a new signing. He is still 75 percent fit and we will be monitoring his progress."
