Gordinho biding his time

Cape Town - Kaizer Chiefs defender Lorenzo Gordinho wants to remain at the Soweto giants, despite making just two appearances for the club during the past two seasons.

Those two caps were earned during the previous campaign and Gordinho has been forced to watch from the sidelines throughout the 2014/15 season. However, he is just 20-years-old and feels that there is still ample opportunity to win over the favour of coach Stuart Baxter

"As a kid you only imagine being where I am now. So, I am not worried about my lack of game time," Gordinho told the Daily Sun.

The reality is that Chiefs do have a formidable defensive unit, which is why the team has been so difficult to beat throughout this campaign.

Gordinho is not in the least bit perturbed by that though and he is more than prepared to bide his time when the team is doing so well.

“We have four central defenders in the team and we can't all play at the same time,” added Gordinho.

“It is part of the game - only 11 players can play. The other ones have to sit it out on the bench. Some don't even go with the team. I just want to prove that I am an ultimate professional.

“Sometimes you need to be patient if you want to achieve everything you yearn for. At my age I am just happy to be learning from these great guys, who have all been superb,” he said.
