Gabuza thinks Bucs can qualify

Cape Town - Orlando Pirates striker Thamsanqa Gabuza believes the Sea Robbers can still progress to the next round of the CAF Confederation Cup despite recently losing to Zamalek.

Pirates missed the chance to move top of Group B against the Egyptian side that managed to recover from a goal down to beat the Buccaneers 2-1.

Speaking ahead of the Buccaneers next continental encounter against CS Sfaxien on Friday, Gazuba lamented their bad luck against Zamalek and expressed his confidence they would still qualify from the group.

"We were just unfortunate with the chances we missed. We were playing one of the best teams in Africa and, at the end of the day, it was down to who wanted it more," he told Soccer Laduma.

"We played well in the first half but we still have a chance. Our domestic season did not go as planned because we didn't win a single trophy, so the only thing that's left is to win the Confederation Cup.

"We want to make our chairman and our supporters proud," he concluded.

To qualify for the two-legged final of the competition Pirates need to top Group B and still have ample time to do so with four games still to play in the group phase, including another chance to beat Zamalek.

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
