Gabuza joins Bucs injury list

Cape Town - Orlando Pirates coach Eric Tinkler is facing a selection headache for Tuesday's clash against Ajax Cape Town, after losing striker Thamsanqa Gabuza to injury.

The Bafana Bafana forward has been consigned to the treatment table with a hamstring injury after being substituted during Pirates' Carling Black Label Cup victory over Kaizer Chiefs.

He joins fellow attacker Kermit Erasmus on the sidelines, while Thabo Matlaba (hamstring) and Rooi Mahamutsa (Achilles) are also expected to miss the midweek MTN8 quarter-final fixture.

"Disappointed to lose Gabuza, we lost Erasmus, both due to hamstring strain, I really think it comes from the traveling," Tinkler said following his side's penalty shootout victory over Amakhosi.

"Tomorrow we are back in training because we play on Tuesday. The guys that played today will be in recovery mode."

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
