GI wants winning mentality

Johannesburg - SuperSport United coach Gordon Igesund is a happy to see a amount of goals being scored by his side under his guidance.

The 58-year-old is heading into his third game in charge of United having already seen six goals being scored over two victories for the Johannesburg outfit.

Speaking to Matsatsantsa’s official website, the former Bafana Bafana mentor believes every Matsatsantsa player has the ability to score a goal.

“I’m happy we create a lot of scoring opportunities,” said Igesund after the training session at Lucas Moripe Stadium.

“I know there are lots of goals in this team. Every player is able to score goals in this team. We will keep on scoring goals.”

However, Igesund admits that the international gives him time to bide and work with his squad in order to get a “winning mentality” out of them.

“I want us to be result-driven; I want us to be competitive.”

“Whatever you do, play to win. I like winning mentality.”

Meanwhile, United prepare for a rare Cup meeting when they clash against Free State Stars in the last 16 of the Telkom Knockout on Saturday, October 4.

The game is scheduled for a 15:00 kick-off at the Lucas Moripe Stadium.
