Cape Town - Platinum Stars head coach Allan Freese has admitted he would
have preferred to have played a game between the Telkom Knockout
quarter-final clash with Chiefs and Sunday's semi-final against Mamelodi
Sundowns.
Dikwena saw Tuesday's league fixture against Orlando Pirates postponed to give their opponents time to mourn the tragic passing of goalkeeper Senzo Meyiwa.
As a result, Stars' last fixture was a Telkom KO quarter-final against Kaizer Chiefs nearly two weeks ago, and Freese is worried the situation could come back to haunt them this weekend.
"We know why it was postponed and we agree with the decision, it was only fair to Orlando Pirates that the game did not take place," Freese told the Sowetan.
"But we would have much preferred to have a game, it would have allowed us to build on the momentum of our victory over Kaizer Chiefs last time out.
"It also would have given us a chance to see where we are lagging and what needs to be fixed ahead of the weekend, but I suppose we also will be spared the chance of injuries and suspensions, so that is a positive," he added.
Dikwena have already beaten Sundowns in a cup match, with the men from Rustenburg emerging victorious when the two sides locked horns in the MTN8 earlier in the season.
