Rustenburg - Following the departure of Siphelele Mthembu to Kaizer Chiefs, Platinum Stars head coach Allan Freese said his team intends to find a suitable replacement to fill the void left by the KwaZulu-Natal born target man.
“Shaka Zulu” last week left Dikwena to re-join the Amakhosi on a three-year contract after helping Stars to MTN8 and Telkom Knockout glory last season.
The 58-year-old tactician confirmed to Sport24 that the preparations for the upcoming season are going according to plan so far but they need to find someone within their team to fill Mthembu’s boots.
“Preparations for the upcoming season are going according to plan up to this stage,” Freese confirmed.
“We just have to try and find someone in our team who can fill the void left by Siphelele. I believe the players we have in our squad will do the job as we have quality players in the team.”
Stars will meet reigning Premier Soccer League (PSL) champions, Mamelodi Sundowns, in their quest to defend their R8m crown at the quarter-final stage during the first week of next month.
Despite their superior record over Pitso Mosimane’s team, Freese believes his side will need a lot of practice and good preparation in order to reign supreme.
“We just have to prepare more for our game against Sundowns in the Top 8. It’s not going to be easy. It will be a tough one but everything needs good preparation,” he concluded.
