FSS, Dikwena chase three points

Cape Town - Free State Stars and Platinum Stars will battle for three Absa Premiership points when the teams meet at Goble Park.

Free State suffered their ninth league defeat of the season when they were beaten 2-1 at log leaders Kaizer Chiefs.

The Bethlehem-based side has claimed 11 points from seven home matches this season.

Their next three league opponents are Black Aces, Kaizer Chiefs (both home) and SuperSport United (away).

Ea Lla Koto are placed 15th on the log with 15 points from 16 matches.

Platinum played to a third successive league draw when they were held to a goalless stalemate by Chippa United in midweek.

The Rustenburg side has claimed seven points from eight away matches this season.

Their next three league opponents are Black Aces (home), Bloemfontein Celtic (away) and Moroka Swallows (home).

Dikwena are placed 13th on the PSL standings with 17 points from 15 matches.

In head-to-head stats, Free State and Platinum have met in 17 league matches since 2005/06.

Dikwena have six wins compared to four for Ea Lla Koto, while seven matches have been drawn.

Free State have won just one of their eight home matches against Platinum, suffering three defeats in the process.

When the teams met earlier this season, a brace from Mabena took Dikwena to a 2-1 home victory.

Kick-off at 15:30 on Saturday, December 20.
