Ertugral quits as Ajax coach

Cape Town - Muhsin Ertugral has stepped down as head coach of Ajax Cape Town with immediate effect.

Ajax announced the news via their official website on Thursday.

Ajax Cape Town director Ari Efstathiou said the coach resigned due to personal reasons.

“Mushin’s uncle who was his mentor sadly passed away on Christmas Day and Muhsin has taken over the responsibility of the family’s business interests in Turkey.

"He helped the club avoid relegation last year and has steered the club into eighth position in the PSL standings after the first half of the 2014 campaign,” said Efstathiou.

Ajax’s assistant coach Ian Taylor will take over as interim head coach, until the club's board makes a decision on a new appointment.
