Cape Town - Following the announcement of the Bafana Bafana squad to take on Sudan and Nigeria, Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane insists his side will continue to support the national team's cause despite just one player being selected for the crucial AFCON qualifiers.
Midfielder Themba Zwane was the only Brazilian to catch Shakes Mashaba's eye but experienced manager Pitso Mosimane is not concerned about what fans may perceive as a snub on his squad.
The Tembisa-born player has been on an upward curve since impressing during his loan spell at Mpumalanga Black aces during the 2013/14 season. Zwane was recalled to the Sundowns squad and is quickly becoming a first team regular.
"Mamelodi Sundowns always supports the national team,” Mosimane told KickOff.com.
“I don’t know if you are aware of how many players we always give to the national team anytime they want, even when the matches are not FIFA calendar dates.
“COSAFA, we give more players, CHAN, we give more players. At Mamelodi Sundowns we always support the national team. We are not in charge of any selection of the national team.
“The team is doing very well … we respect the fact that Bafana Bafana is doing very well and we will always support,” said Mosimane, who himself is a former Bafana Bafana head coach.
Mamelodi Sundowns will be looking to continue their good form when they host a similarly in-form Mpumalanga Black Aces side at the Lucas Moripe Stadium on Wednesday evening.
There is good news from the Sundowns camp as skipper, Alje Schut, is in line to make his return to the side with the likes of Khama Billiat and Teko Modise also raring to go after a spell on the sidelines.
The match kicks off at 19:30.
